Questions and Answers
1 Why are you
different from any other sole practitioner accountant?
The principal of Parlow Associates, Ian Parker, has worked
in industry and commerce with small and medium sized businesses for
over 20 years. He is only too aware what it is like running a business
and can bring this experience to other small businesses. He does not
come with the "baggage" of traditional accountancy firms.
2 How much does
it cost?
The cost will depend on the amount of involvement required.
We can charge at an hourly rate for time worked or at an agreed fixed
fee, payable monthly. Whichever suits you! Rates and scope of work are
agreed at the outset in a simple services agreement.
3 Do I have
to change my existing accountant?
Not necessarily. We specialise in providing financial management
support during the financial year, as well as at the year end. A number
of our clients still use the services of an accountancy practice to
deal with statutory accounts, group accounts or complex tax work. We
are very happy to provide an existing firm you use with professional
accounts information at the year end.
4 Where is work
done?
We can either carry out book-keeping and preparation of financial
management information work at your premises or at our office. Either
way, we consider it an essential part of your service to meet with you
regularly to review how your business is doing.
5 I am only
a very small business. Surely I don't need management accounts?
We are great believers that no business is too small to warrant
regular financial information during the course of a financial year.
Even if it is only a 1-page summary. We want to focus on businesses
growing through providing financial management support and generating
accurate, professionally produced, timely financial reports, however
brief, specific to your needs, to aid decision making.
6 Can you do
everything for me from files of my paperwork?(That
would take a lot of the stress away!)
Yes, in a word. Give us all your paperwork on a weekly, monthly
or quarterly basis and we will carry out all your book-keeping either
in QuickBooks
or using accounts:anywhere
and then produce financial reports for you as required.
7 I want to
do my own book-keeping. What will you need from me?
A copy of your books, either sent by e-mail, or on disk, or
hard copy, depending on what software you are using on a regular basis
so that we can prepare financial management information for you. If you
use accounts:anywhere,
we can access your books on line.
